Point Douglas Run
Annual 10 kilometre run, 5 kilometre run, 2.5 kilometre run and community walk
The 7th annual Point Douglas Run is planned for Saturday September 15th, 2018.
The scenic route winds along the Red River, encompassing many historical points of interest. Come discover one of Winnipeg’s hidden jewels while having fun supporting the following valuable, local organizations: The North Point Douglas Women’s Centre, Norquay Community Centre and Graffiti Art Programming.
Each 2.5 km, 5 km and 10 km participant registering will receive a FREE technical shirt (while quantities last). After the run/walk, participants will be treated to a breakfast.
We challenge runners and walkers to be creative and dress up for this event. There will be a prize for the most creative outfit. Each registered runner to cross the finish line will receive a raffle ticket for prizes to be drawn at the conclusion of the race.
Point Douglas Community Oven
The Point Douglas Community Oven is a beautiful spot to jog by the day of the run. The Community Oven was established in the hopes of facilitating community members cooking together, creating relationships through food.
Pizza nights are hosted throughout the summer, where up to 200 people will gather to make many different kinds of pizza. Cultural Breads days are celebrated as well, where members of the community from different backgrounds come out to bake breads that they have grown up making, with recipes passed from generation to generation. People enjoy storytelling and crafts while the bread is baking.
